The IoT Tech Expo Team spent some time with Sasha Ilyukhin, Tetra Pak’s Vice President, Services and Industry 4.0 Solutions.

  1. How is your company applying IoT and disruptive technologies?

We use various IIOT technologies to digitally enable our products and services, and to deliver solutions to our customers that produce tangible business outcomes, sustainability benefits and improved engagement of their workforce. The technologies we employ are developed internally or with our global partners, and are carefully curated by our experts to fit specific applications ranging from basic data visualization to full scale machine learning.

  1. What do you see as the biggest challenges, and/or benefits in using IoT technology?

The benefits are clear – when properly applied in a specific use case, technology enables improvements of production efficiencies, food quality and safety, waste reduction and sustainable impact in OPEX. There are several challenges we face, for example automation of legacy equipment, contextualizing data, information security. All of these challenges can be tackled with clear business ownership and the power of people collaborating together for a common goal.

  1. What advice would you give companies to stay competitive/ innovative throughout this pandemic?

These are trying times indeed, but they have also given us an opportunity to look at how we run our business in a different way. Lockdowns and distancing rules have helped accelerate 5-10 years of digital transformation in the areas of connectivity, remote collaboration and learning. Let’s use this unique opportunity to make our businesses more sustainable and future-ready.

  1. What is your company’s roadmap for the rest of 2020 and what should we expect to see from your team in the next 12 months?

We are well underway in the execution of our Strategy 2030, where one of the key focus areas is to integrate and optimize our customers’ operations. Our digitally enabled services solutions do just that, and help our customers deliver growth, profitability and sustainability of their business.

  1. Who is your hero/mentor in this space: what lessons have you learned from them and how have you applied them in your career?

I have a few people I look up to. For example, Satya Nadella of Microsoft inspires me with the way that he is able to transform his company and put renewed focus on customer obsession, continuous learning and empathetic leadership.
