The COMPOSITION project has developed an integrated information management system (IIMS) for the manufacturing industry which optimises the internal production processes by exploiting existing data, knowledge and tools to increase productivity and dynamically adapt to changing market requirements. The project also developed an ecosystem to support the connection of data and services between factories and their suppliers. The aim is to optimise manufacturing and logistics processes and invite new market actors into the supply chain by the sharing of data.
Indicative technologies used are: Open connectors for data integration and real-time brokering, Big data analytics for pattern detection implementing a deep learning toolkit, Modelling of simulation tools for decision support, End-to-end security for trusted data exchange based on block-chain technology, Market place for new economic collaboration models based on agents where each party is represented by one or more agents.
The technologies are demonstrated in two different factory infrastructures: In the medical device production plant in Clonmel, Ireland owned by Boston Scientific Limited – one of the largest medical device companies in the world and in the lift production plant in Kilkis, Greece owned by KLEEMANN – a major lift company in the European and global market. The first pilot focuses on the COMPOSITION system and the processes inside the production plant (the value chain). The second pilot concentrates on the interaction between different companies in the production, using the COMPOSITION system to optimise the logistics processes of waste management in the manufacturing of lifts.
