• For over 25 years, David has held influential “Strategic and Thought Leadership” positions in the public and private sectors, across the utility, telecommunications and climate change industries.David’s career includes founder roles at two of the world’s first major power utility diversifications into commercial telecommunications, at NORWEB Telecom and Energis. David has developed similar strategies on behalf of utilities in Australia, Brazil, Germany and the USA.
  • During his career David has directly participated across the full breadth of the utility and telecommunications industries, from software and silicon systems design, hardware product development, to utility network operation and service delivery.
  • David has held positions in energy utilities (e.g. National Grid, EON, ENW, SSE, Iberdrola, Florida Power and Light etc), major solutions vendors such as Cisco, Nokia, Siemens and a number of international service / consultancy businesses. David was also one of the founding management team regarding a Joint venture between Cisco and American Electric Power (AEP) the largest USA power utility.
  • David was inaugural Chair of the International Division of the Utilities Telecoms Council in USA representing telecommunications interests for all power utilities across the USA.

In February 2017 David accepted the part time position of Professor in Practice at Keele University UK regarding their ground breaking Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND) project. SEND is Europe’s first at scale fully integrated Smart Energy project, offering a living laboratory to provide testing and research capabilities across the energy supply value chain. 1.1.5 Smart Grid Practice Head, Wipro Technologies
