Jim is the Assistant Director for the City of Austin Transportation Department.  He is responsible for the divisions that keep Austin moving on a daily basis: signals, transportation management center, signs and markings and right-of-way management.  Jim is also responsible for coordinating multi-modal transportation operations across multiple transportation agencies.  He has more than 26 years of transportation engineering and planning experience in the public, private, and research sectors.  He has served as either a Project Manager or Engineer on numerous projects in more than 20 urban areas throughout North America:  bus rapid transit, urban rail, multi-modal arterial signal operations, bike and pedestrian treatments, freeway operations, intelligent transportation systems, and safety analyses.  Jim is a registered professional engineer and holds bachelor and master degrees in Civil/Transportation Engineering from Texas A&M University.
