Jim is a respected telecommunications industry expert, with over 20 years’ experience of strategy consulting, operations management and telecoms research.
He has worked on-site in in excess of 30 countries worldwide, including in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America. Previous experience includes strategy consulting for Booz.Allen&Hamilton, Head of department at the BBC and also work as a freelance consultant. He is currently Chief IoT Solution Consultant, Europe Region, within Huawei’s Enterprise division. Previously he founded, managed and successfully exited Machina Research, the market leading IoT focussed industry analyst and consulting firm. He is Chairman of the Industrial Internet Consortium’s Business Strategy Task Group and led the development of the IIC’s Business Strategy and Innovation Framework. He is also Co-Chair of the IIC’s Business Strategy and Solution Lifecycle Working Group. Jim is responsible for the addition of the term Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) networking to the lexicon of the IoT and has co-authored a book on Enterprise IoT. He also holds a range of other advisory positions in the IoT ecosystem and is a frequent conference chair and speaker.
He holds an MA in mathematics from Oxford University.
