Neil Strother is a Principal Research Analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Utility Transformations program, with a focus on smart metering technologies, home energy management (HEM) solutions, including smart thermostats, and the Internet of Things (IoT) trend among residential consumers. He has extensive experience with consumer survey research, particularly in regard to HEM, and utilities using social media tools for customer engagement. Strother has more than 14 years in market intelligence, focused on emerging technologies, mainly in the wireless space. Strother is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is regularly quoted in major publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Strother was practice director of mobile services at ABI Research. He previously held senior analyst positions at Forrester Research, the NPD Group, and In-Stat, and was also the managing editor of ZDNet AnchorDesk. Strother holds an MS from Northwestern University and a BA from Whitman College.
