Torri Martin is currently the Chief of Innovation for the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management (DWM). Torri leads the Innovation Division, playing a vital role in connecting DWM to the external community and positioning DWM in becoming a leading water utility in innovation, service, and value. As a major collaborator of the DWM leadership team, Torri ensures member and stakeholder satisfaction, positive staff morale and fiscal viability of the division while maximizing the impact on innovation and the growth of DWM.
Mr. Martin has a vast array of professional experience as a former White House Intern for the Obama Administration, overseeing the technology operations for the District of Colombia Public schools, and serving as Chief of Staff and Assistant to the Mayor of the City of Fairburn, Georgia; he brings practical experience to building a culture of innovation.
Mr. Martin joined the City of Atlanta in June of 2015 as a Senior Project Manager in the Mayor’s Office of Innovation Delivery and Performance but was quickly promoted to be the Interim Director of the Fiber Atlanta Services Team. Mr. Martin was then tapped to establish the City’s SmartATL program and became its first Director. Now as the Chief of Innovation for DWM, he is responsible for building out the department’s “Smart H2O” strategy and leading the digital transformation for DWM to become a “Utility of the Future”.
Mr. Martin has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Troy University. He is a Certified Public Manager and is currently working towards a Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall School of Law. Mr. Martin is a native of Dublin, Georgia and currently resides with his wife, LaTasha, in Atlanta, Georgia.
